Topic: Concrete, Sustainability and Climate Action:  An Industry Update

Join NRMCA’s Director of Sustainability, Codes and Standards for a presentation on current trends in the concrete industry and sustainability. We will discuss regional, state and national trends in the industry. We will discuss the green building market, Environmental Product Declarations, Material Ingredient disclosures, and responsible sourcing. The discussion will be centered on the pragmatic approach projects are taking to reduce projects carbon footprint, and the work the NRMCA is doing with ready mix producers and partners to meet the demand of customers in the sustainable development realm. We will also share examples from the NRMCA’s Build with Strength program and Pave Ahead.

Speaker:  Tiffany Reed-Villarreal, PE

Tiffany Reed-Villarreal, P.E. is the NRMCA’s Director, sustainability codes and standards.  Tiffany earned her Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. She holds over 13 years’ experience in structural engineering and consultancy and has been involved in codes and standards development, sustainable infrastructure advocacy and government relations/engagement. She has worked as a consultant with local distributors, manufacturers and civil engineering firms on business strategies, social media marketing, strategic public relations and advocacy for the concrete pipe and precast industry.

Ms. Reed-Villarreal was named the Civil Engineering Advocate of the Year by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and continues to serve ASCE as the governor for Region 6 and as voting member for the ASCE Committee on Sustainability. She also holds current positions in ASTM International, Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI), Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) and the Texas State Transportation Innovation Council (TxSTIC,) which is organized by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).
