Mr. Eric Ouellet, of SIMCO Technologies specializes in the optimization of conventional or specialized concrete mixtures, specifically in service-life predictive analyses of concrete structures which includes aspects for durability, failure analysis, premature deterioration of concrete infrastructure and its impact on asset management. He is a Professional Engineer in Quebec, Canada.
SIMCO’s unique approach is centered on the use of advanced numerical modeling tools to perform durability analyses. The STADIUM software, SIMCO’s flagship application, is used to calculate the deterioration of concrete by considering multiple deterioration mechanisms (such as chloride and sulfate ingress, carbonation and calcium leaching). Fully validated through extensive laboratory testing and field trials, STADIUM has been used in over 150 major engineering projects around the world and is the model specified by the DOD to evaluate the service-life of concrete waterfront structures.
The presentation will focus on a complete methodology that allows for the section of optimized solutions for the durability design of new structures and for the service-life extension of existing concrete structures exposed to aggressive environments. The methodology combines the use of field data and advanced modeling in a comprehensive approach. Different case studies will be presented.
