Topic:      Jacksonville Zoo & Gardens Construction Site Tour  

J. Cullen Richart, Construction Projects Manager at the Jacksonville Zoo & Gardens, will lead a tour of the African Forest Exhibit under construction featuring the concrete clad African Tree. All of the landscape features are architectural concrete with lifelike texture and color. We will also tour the Manatee Rehabilitation Facility, a former ACI award recipient, which consists of two large concrete tanks for the care and rehabilitation of manatees. We will also view the Range of the Jaguar which is also a former ACI award recipient which has extensive architectural concrete similar to the concrete application at the African Forest Exhibit. Other interesting uses of concrete will be pointed out along the way. After the tour, we will have dinner at the Samburu Room. The Samburu Room is at Main Camp and has a separate entrance. We will be meeting there to start the tour and returning there for dinner. The African Forest Exhibit is an active construction site so personal protective equipment (PPE) is required so bring hard hats and boots. A limited number of hardhats will be available, so it would be appreciated that if you have one, please bring it.

Cost:    Members-$30.00/Non-Members-$35.00 (No shows will be billed) Students can attend the tour for free or stay dinner for only $20.00 (Please indicate if you plan to have dinner when you make your reservation)!
