Topic: Deep Foundation Testing Techniques (4 PDH’s)
This four-hour seminar will focus on the various methods for testing deep foundations with an emphasis on what type of testing is appropriate for various situations, how the tests are performed and the type of data you should expect. Tests to be discussed will include conventional static load tests, Statnamic Testing, PDA, Thermal Integrity of shafts, and many more.
Speakers: Mr. Don Robertson PE and Mr. Kirk McIntosh PE, D.GE
Don Robertson is President of Applied Foundation Testing and has over 29 years of engineering experience working for both government agencies and private consulting. He is a graduate of Florida State University and the Florida Department of Transportation’s Professional Engineers Training Program, which gives him an excellent working knowledge of department specifications and procedures. He has worked on thousands of deep foundation load test and instrumentation programs throughout the western hemisphere. As Principal Engineer of Applied Foundation Testing he is responsible for offices in five states with ongoing projects throughout North America and the Caribbean. Don is also highly experienced in Thermal Integrity Profiling data interpretation and is a member of the ASTM D-18.11 Deep Foundation Testing committee.
Mr. Kirk McIntosh is a Sr. Principal Geotechnical Engineer for AMEC Foster Wheeler/Wood, PLC (formerly Law Engineering and Mactec Inc) and has 39 years of geotechnical engineering experience in southeast US, with emphasis in Florida and Georgia. He is a graduate of the University of Illinois. Kirk has considerable amount of field experience inspecting and testing all types of foundations, including drilled shafts, driven piles, PIFs, augercast piles, rigid inclusions, helical piles, footings, and micropiles and is considered one of the more knowledgeable deep foundation engineers in Florida. Kirk had been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Deep Foundations Institute for the 15 years, and is a member of the DFI Augercast Pile, Helical Pier and Drilled Shaft Committees.
