Topic:      Mix Selection – Proportioning of Concrete Mixes and Selection of Materials for Optimum Performance

This presentation will discuss the design engineer’s perspective on specifying for strength and durability through the steps of selecting a proportioning approach and achieving acceptance of the concrete.  Come prepared to learn how mixes are designed and why the materials are so important.

Speaker:    Mr. Gary Knight

Mr. Knight is currently the Technical Services Quality Control Manager for Lehigh South and lives in Atlanta Ga.  Prior to Lehigh, Mr. Knight has worked as a designer, educator and providing technical services for Holcim Inc., and WR Grace. Gary is current chair of ASTM C01.290 Sulfate Resistance and voting member for Lehigh Hanson on ASTM C01 and C09 (Cement, Concrete and Aggregates).  He was also past chair of ACI 211 Proportioning Concrete Mixtures and a member of ACI 237 SCC and associate member of ACI 302 Concrete Floor and Slab Construction.
